How Has It Changed Over Time?
As time passed even more immigration came even more here specifically in the year 1880 mainly from Ontario and Britain. Winnipeg's massive growth was caused from a conflict between Ontario and Britain and the newer immigrants, many of whom were Slaves and Jews. As a result, these immigrants received discrimination and there was a slight decline in the population up until 1920 - 1960. To this day, there are visible minorities made up about 20 per cent of Winnipeg’s population, the majority of these being South Asian, Chinese, Black, or Filipino.
